Gilga

Overview

The name Gilga is one of shrouded in myth and mystery from that exotic faraway land once known as Persia. As the youngest and most beautiful, but shiest of all the courtesans of the great Persian King Amurabi, Gilga was always over-looked by the King and shunned by her fellow courtesans. In an attempt to end her miserable existence, Gilga planned to take a sip from an amphora marked “the most powerful poison” which she had found while skulking around the palace. The “poison”, was in fact Syrah fruit from the Shiraz Peninsula that had fermented in the clay amphora and turned into wine.
