Bergwater Wines is owned by two brothers, Heimie and Stephan Schoeman. “We as owners of Bergwater Wines are privileged to have the opportunity to responsibly manage our precious resources to produce world class wines.”

The winemaker is Jacques Kruger. He joined Bergwater Wines in January 2013, taking over responsibilities from former winemaker, Mariska Vorster.

Jacques matriculated at Paul Roos in Stellenbosch and received both an Agricultural and a Cellar Technology Diploma from Elsenburg Agricultural College in Stellenbosch. Jacques started his winemaking career at a well-known wine producer in Stellenbosch in 1981.

He is well known in wine circles and boasts numerous international and local awards. His winemaking philosophy is to make wine naturally by helping the grape reach its full potential.

Jacques loves to spend as much time as possible with his wife and two daughters. He enjoys the outdoors and touring through neighbouring countries.
