Ever wondered what goes into a blend? This is your evening to find out. Helgard opens the cellar, shares a little of the thinking behind Calligraphy, and then hands things over to you. Each table is set with sample bottles of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot — the building blocks of one of our most loved wines. With a measuring jug and your palate as your guide, you work towards your own version of the blend.

Once you are happy, Helgard bottles it for you. You press in the cork, seal it with wax, name it, and label it yourself. Yours to take home. There is also hearty soup and fresh bread to keep you going through the evening — and a blind judging at the end, where Helgard selects the best blend from the tables. The prize is modest. The bragging rights are not.
