Founded on 1 February 1700, Vergelegen (meaning "situated far away"), has been under the ownership of some of the world's great explorers and visionaries, each of whom, in their own way, have helped shape Vergelegen to what it is today: a world-class Estate.
The Estate is open to visitors Monday to Sunday from 09h00 to 17h00 (last entry 16h00). The Estate (including all restaurants) is closed on Christmas Day (25 Dec), Good Friday and Workers Day. Regrettably, no dogs, BYO, or private picnics are permitted.
Entrance to the property is R10 for adults and R5 for pensioners/scholars. Pensioners free of charge on Mondays.
