June 2026
We’re back.
After a long pause, Wineries.co.za has returned with a renewed focus: helping people discover, explore and experience the best wineries, wines and wine-related events across South Africa.
Some of you may remember us from before. In fact, Wineries.co.za was previously known as CapeWineFarms.co.za. That name served us well for a time, but it also limited the scope of what we wanted to build. South Africa’s wine story is much bigger than one province.
While the Western Cape remains the heart of the country’s wine industry, there are remarkable wineries, wine experiences and wine communities across the country.
That is why we moved to Wineries.co.za — a name that better reflects the platform we want to become: a national directory and discovery platform for South African wine.
At the time of writing, we have 594 wineries listed on Wineries.co.za.
That means we currently cover roughly 80% of all wineries in South Africa. It is a strong starting point, but it is not the finish line. Our goal is to build the most complete and useful winery directory in the country, and we hope to reach full coverage soon.
If you know of a winery that should be listed and is not currently on the site, please let us know. We want Wineries.co.za to be as accurate, useful and comprehensive as possible.
To mark the return of Wineries.co.za, we are launching a major wine competition.
Soon, you will be able to enter for a chance to win 120 bottles of some of the best wines in South Africa.
The competition is planned to launch within the next week or two, and it will be one of the biggest features of our relaunch campaign. We will share the full details as soon as entries open, including how to enter, what wines are included, and how the winners will be selected.
This is not just a small giveaway. It is a proper celebration of South African wine, made possible with the help of participating wineries and partners who share our belief that South Africa’s wine industry deserves more visibility.
Keep an eye on the site and make sure you are subscribed to the newsletter so you do not miss the launch.
We have also started expanding Wineries.co.za beyond the core winery directory.
Two of the most important new sections are Events and Wines.
Our goal is to keep an updated record of wine-related events across South Africa. From tastings and festivals to cellar tours, harvest experiences and special winery-hosted occasions, we want the events section to become a useful place to find out what is happening in the wine community.
We have also added a dedicated wines section. Over time, we want to build this into a detailed and useful list of top South African wines, helping visitors discover notable bottles, producers and styles from across the country.
Both sections are still growing, but they are important parts of where Wineries.co.za is heading.
Back in 2018, the Wineries mobile app was our pride and joy.
It allowed people to check in at wineries and acted as a true social app for wine lovers. It was built around discovery, visits, sharing and the simple idea that wine experiences are better when people can connect around them.
The app is not available right now, but we do intend to bring it back.
We will not say too much about it here, because the app deserves its own dedicated update. For now, the important point is this: the mobile experience is still part of the long-term vision for Wineries.co.za.
If you want to stay informed about the competition, new winery listings, upcoming wine events, new site features and general South African wine news, we recommend signing up for our newsletter.
We do not spam. We will only send updates when there is something worth sharing, and you can unsubscribe whenever you want.
The newsletter will be one of the easiest ways to stay connected as we continue rebuilding and expanding Wineries.co.za.
We are also not doing this alone.
We now work closely with Howl Marketing, who are helping us reach the right people and make a proper success of Wineries.co.za. Their support allows us to approach the relaunch with more focus, better communication and a stronger plan for growth.
Wineries.co.za has always had potential. With the right people involved, we believe we can finally turn it into the platform it was meant to become.
This relaunch is only the beginning.
We are improving the directory, expanding the events and wines sections, preparing the competition, planning the return of the mobile app, and working to make Wineries.co.za a genuinely useful resource for wine lovers, wineries, event organisers and the wider South African wine community.
Thank you for being here as we bring Wineries.co.za back.
There is a lot more to come.
